This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Oversee the daily functions of the Project Coordinating and Field Technician Departments.
• Lead and manage department staff, including scheduling, task assignments, delegation, and performance evaluation.
• Coordinate and prioritize field projects to guarantee timely completion.
• Serve as a liaison among project coordinators, field technicians, clients, laboratories, and internal teams.
• Manage client communication, project updates, clearance results, technical inquiries, pricing, proposals, and service-related issues.
• Analyze and interpret laboratory results and technical findings.
• Supervise the preparation, review, and approval of reports, reporting tables, invoices, emails, and other client deliverables.
• Collaborate with laboratories regarding sample analysis, results, turnaround times, and project timeline challenges.
• Cross-train team members and create efficient operational workflows.
• Conduct department meetings, track project progress, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues related to deadlines or client satisfaction.
• Train, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Address complex operational and client-related issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist the Operations Director with departmental planning, resource distribution, and process enhancements.
• Be available to work outside of regular business hours, including occasional Saturdays, as needed to meet operational deadlines.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
• At least 2 years of experience in the environmental sector or a related field.
• Previous experience in supervising staff and managing departmental operations, schedules, and workloads.
• Strong project coordination and organizational abilities, capable of juggling multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Excellent leadership, delegation, and decision-making capabilities.
• Superb verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating a professional and client-service-oriented demeanor.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, field technicians, laboratories, homeowners, and internal teams.
• Familiarity with environmental testing, laboratory analysis, and associated technical concepts.
• Experience in reviewing and interpreting laboratory results, technical reports, and other project documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing reports, invoices, emails, and client deliverables.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to learn company databases, project management systems, and other software applications.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, resolve problems swiftly, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Experience in training, mentoring, and developing team members.
• Proficiency in English at the B2 level or above.
• High standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.
• A proactive approach to identifying and addressing obstacles for clients and internal teams.
• Proven experience working remotely with a dedicated home office setup, reliable computer, quality headset, and stable internet connection.
• Willingness to work a Monday-Saturday operational schedule as required, including occasional hours beyond the standard business day.
• Preferred: experience in environmental consulting, environmental testing, industrial hygiene, or a related technical services field.
• Preferred: certifications in Asbestos, Lead, or Industrial Hygiene, such as CAC, LI-RA, or CMI.
• Preferred: previous laboratory experience.
