Programmer IV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and maintain robust and highly optimized systems that fulfill all design, technical, and scheduling requirements.

• Collaborate closely with QA and technical leadership to ensure the stability and accuracy of systems by identifying, communicating, and resolving defects.

• Write, review, and provide feedback on technical documents and end-user documentation related to systems.

• Work together with Technical Leadership and fellow Programmers to help define the overall technical design and architecture.

• Partner with production staff to build and maintain realistic schedules and identify dependencies; coordinate with QA and Leads to ensure a successful rollout of new features to the team and establish testing and maintenance of systems.

• Operate with minimal guidance on high-impact tasks or independently on low-risk tasks.

• Offer guidance and informal supervision to junior staff members.

• Deliver constructive feedback and uphold coding standards through peer reviews.

• Assist team members in setting up tools and troubleshooting minor tool issues and workflow obstacles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software development experience.

• More than 3 years of professional experience with Unreal Engine.

• At least 3 years of experience working in a team environment.

• Over 2 years of professional experience with C++ and an advanced understanding of the language.

• Extensive experience working across multiple code bases.

• Capability to openly discuss and review technical proposals, requirements, designs, algorithms, source code, and reference documents with programmers, content creators, and managers.

• Ability to provide accurate time estimates for large tasks.

• Proficient in writing optimized code and identifying areas for optimization, including writing thread-safe code.

• Successfully navigate through ambiguity and take appropriate action.

• Flexibility to pivot between different domains of responsibility.

• Extensive experience using debugging tools to resolve issues in unfamiliar code.

• Interest or experience in leveraging AI-assisted software development workflows to support tasks such as code exploration, implementation, debugging, documentation, and code review.

• Strict adherence to project coding standards.

• Strong skills in cross-discipline collaboration.

• Willingness to accept and act on feedback.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience or comfort with client-facing communication and the ability to represent the studio professionally when interacting with external partners.

• Expert knowledge in 3D mathematics.
