This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Establish significant connections with school system personnel in the Southwest region, focusing on indoor air quality and energy efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Program Director to devise and execute a recruitment and retention strategy for district participants.
• Assist K-12 districts in formulating district-level Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality Management Plans.
• Deliver regionally pertinent training, technical assistance, educational resources, and communications.
• Travel throughout the designated region to conduct meetings and training sessions, including in-person training for a minimum of 50 district staff members each year.
• Advocate for resources and opportunities at regional events and conferences, including delivering presentations and speeches.
• Forge connections with low-income, disadvantaged, Tribal, and small to medium-sized communities and districts.
• Lead an annual regional cohort of 10 district staff members through the School Air Quality Fellowship program.
• Oversee Fellowship logistics, which encompass recruitment, coaching, training development, and the management of travel and professional development reimbursements.
• Administer mini-grant funding opportunities for regional Fellows.
• Supervise graduate-level interns and 1–2 EDF Climate Corps Summer Fellows each year.
• Provide quarterly progress data to the Program Director for EPA reporting obligations.
• Implement and analyze feedback surveys and tools for participants, Fellows, and interns.
• Modify and enhance virtual training, educational materials, and media communications based on regional examples and priorities.
• Collaborate with the Program Director, staff from the national Center for Green Schools, and Regional Program Managers.
• Participate in and assist with logistics for the annual Green Schools Conference and national school district training.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in school indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency, environmental health and safety, facility management, energy management, organizational sustainability, organizational change management, or a related field.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Familiarity with and comprehensive understanding of the daily operational needs of public K-12 schools or school districts.
• Knowledge of sustainable built environments and green building practices.
• Existing connections and experiences with K-12 public school districts in the region.
• Proven experience in building, developing, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with professional stakeholders.
• Experience working with low-income, disadvantaged, Tribal, and/or small to medium-sized communities and school districts.
• Strong skills in training development and delivery, technical assistance, and coaching.
• Ability to create or modify in-person and virtual professional development opportunities, educational materials, and communication content.
• Proficiency in data management and analysis.
• Experience leading or guiding initiatives to enhance indoor air quality and energy efficiency in K-12 school systems.
• Familiarity with district-level facility management, energy management, and/or environmental health staff.
• Experience in managing staff or interns.
• Competence with Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• An entrepreneurial, creative, and self-motivated mindset.
• Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Must reside in AZ, CA, OK, or TX.
• Proficiency in English.
• LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional (AP) credential is preferred.
