This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous management of the AI Governance Program for the First American Lender division.
β’ Utilize the MISMO FRAME as the central framework for AI governance.
β’ Manage and uphold the AI governance operating model, which includes defining roles, responsibilities, decision-making rights, forums, approval authorities, escalation paths, exceptions, and documentation.
β’ Create and manage the AI use-case lifecycle from initial intake and inventory to risk classification, assessment, approval, monitoring, reassessment, and retirement.
β’ Keep an updated inventory of internally developed, third-party, and embedded AI systems and use cases.
β’ Formulate and sustain an AI risk-tiering methodology.
β’ Facilitate reviews and independent challenges involving Legal, Compliance, Fair Lending, Privacy, Information Security, Data Governance, Enterprise Risk, Model Risk, Vendor Management, and other control functions.
β’ Define specific control requirements for AI and ensure that controls are designed, documented, implemented, evidenced, and monitored effectively.
β’ Lead governance for third-party AI related to mortgages and set up due diligence, contractual obligations, change notifications, oversight, and evidence requirements.
β’ Develop, analyze, and communicate AI governance KPIs and KRIs to senior management and governance committees.
β’ Keep abreast of regulatory expectations, industry practices, mortgage industry standards, and internal risk requirements.
β’ Ensure audit, examination, and customer readiness through traceable governance documentation.
β’ Provide subject matter expertise in AI governance to both business and technology stakeholders.
β’ Collaborate with business and technology teams, offering independent challenges and escalating noncompliant AI use cases.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in business, risk management, information systems, technology, data science, finance, law, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
β’ 8-10 years of program management experience in areas such as enterprise governance, technology risk, operational risk, compliance, model risk, IT governance, audit, data governance, responsible AI, or a similar control function.
β’ Proven experience in designing or managing governance programs.
β’ Background in establishing governance structures, policies, risk-assessment methodologies, control frameworks, issue-management processes, and executive reporting within a regulated setting.
β’ Experience in residential mortgage lending, mortgage servicing/subservicing, financial services, or other highly regulated consumer-finance sectors is strongly preferred.
β’ A solid understanding of artificial intelligence and machine-learning technologies sufficient to evaluate governance implications and challenge stakeholders effectively.
β’ Familiarity with applying AI, model-risk, technology-risk, data-governance, privacy, or other relevant risk-management frameworks is preferred.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Capabilities in program structure and operating model development.
β’ Ability to translate policies and frameworks into repeatable, auditable processes and controls.
β’ Proficiency in establishing support and consensus among senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
β’ Working knowledge of generative AI, AI agents, training and inference concepts, model inputs and outputs, grounding, hallucination, explainability, human oversight, data lineage, model drift, and monitoring.
β’ Ability to provide independent challenges, make risk-based recommendations, and escalate issues as necessary.
β’ Strong organizational and documentation skills.
