Program Engineer 4, Fuels Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• This role is accountable to the Senior Manager of Nuclear Fuels and collaborates closely with the Nuclear Fuels leadership team as well as various departments within NuScale.

• Assess and define the comprehensive range of fuel services to be provided — including reload core design, safety analysis, fuel procurement assistance, and fuel program management — clearly differentiating between existing services and those currently in development.

• Engage with business development, contracts, and executive leadership to ensure that the fuel program strategy is aligned with the company’s broader commercialization objectives.

• Suggest and analyze business models for nuclear fuel products and services that are consistent with the company's strategy and product framework, taking into account unique fuel and supply chain factors specific to NuScale.

• Create standard schedules for reload core design and safety analysis to aid in internal resource planning and customer commitment management, considering NRC review timelines, fuel fabrication lead times, reload outage periods, and potential contingencies.

• Act as a technical liaison for customer interactions regarding the fuel supply scope, timeline, and engineering services during the initial stages of program development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university is mandatory.

• At least 8 years of full-time, pertinent engineering experience is essential.

• Proven experience in executing engineering design processes for thermal-hydraulics, transient analysis, and associated safety analysis is necessary.

• Experience in developing or contributing to an established fuel program is preferred.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
