Program Director – Emergency Cash

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance emergency response capabilities, partnerships, and aspirations.

• Lead program execution and immediate collaborations for swift, respectful disaster responses.

• Supervise the enhancement and scaling of GiveDirectly’s capacity to promptly address significant disasters in the United States.

• Seek and finalize new partnerships.

• Manage and expand a team of committed and surge personnel.

• Direct the comprehensive design, planning, and enhancements of U.S. disaster response capabilities.

• Perform operational diligence, feasibility assessments, and risk evaluations for specific disaster responses.

• Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities for particular disaster responses and general disaster funding.

• Establish and sustain high-quality relationships with designated donors and operational partners.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in managing large-scale program delivery within complex funding landscapes. Prior humanitarian/emergency experience is highly preferred.

• Exceptional alignment with GiveDirectly's values and active demonstration of our core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem-solving, project management, follow-through, and promoting inclusivity.

• Strong technical capabilities and product insight, including data analysis and a willingness to evaluate and stress-test third-party technology platforms and tools, as well as internal development.

• Fundraising: Preference for candidates with a robust background in partnership and relationship management, particularly in rapid sourcing and deployment of cash.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with finance, grants, and partnership teams.

• Clear communicator who can effectively engage with state agencies, funders, and internal leaders.

• Detail-oriented while maintaining focus on program outcomes and timelines.

• Comfortable operating in uncertain environments, demonstrating strong judgment and the ability to manage complex risks.

• Enthusiastic about fast-paced and surge work settings, which may not have a clearly defined playbook for success and require significant "learning by doing."

• Passionate about the work we do and collaborating with others.

• Open to giving and receiving direct, honest, and constructive feedback gracefully.

• Language Requirement: Proficiency in English; additional languages such as Spanish are a plus.
