
Professional Coding Specialist II – Inpatient Notes, Multispecialty Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review and analyze medical record documentation to determine diagnoses and procedures impacting inpatient stays or outpatient encounters.
• Assign the correct ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes.
• Ensure precise and timely coding, charging, and account abstraction for designated specialty areas.
• Enhance and maintain coding expertise through quality assessments, clinical in-services, coding workshops, internal meetings, reference materials, and updates to coding manuals.
• Examine data for precision and timeliness to secure clean bills.
• Reach out to physicians and other relevant personnel to gather information for accurate coding assignments.
• Oversee provider documentation and evaluate provider coding accuracy.
• Offer educational support to providers as needed.
• Assist the Revenue Cycle Operations team with claim development and the resolution of problematic patient accounts.
• Investigate missing charges and problematic accounts to aid department reimbursement efforts.
• Collaborate with physician and non-physician providers to promote correct coding initiatives and ensure compliance.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Current HIM/Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
• Two (2) years of experience in medical coding
• Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Ability to focus and maintain accuracy amidst frequent interruptions
• Capability for independent decision-making
• Proficiency in prioritizing job responsibilities
• Skill in managing high-stress situations
• Adaptability to changes in the workplace
• Competence in organizing and completing assigned tasks
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Capability to meet quality and productivity benchmarks
• Ability to sit for extended periods
• Normal range visual and hearing acuity
• Manual dexterity for operating computer and office equipment
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 10–20 pounds
• Multispecialty knowledge and skillset
• Active AAPC or AHIMA credential
