Healthcare Billing, Patient Care Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of rolling prior authorizations by evaluating patient charts and necessary documentation.

• Administer weekly medical billing and confirm details prior to submission.

• Process claims through the designated clearinghouse.

• Assist with claims that have been denied, investigate issues, and facilitate resolutions.

• Ensure accurate documentation for authorizations and billing is maintained.

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, with a focus on Blue Cross Blue Shield processes.

• Detect authorization, eligibility, and billing discrepancies before services are rendered.

• Address patient inquiries related to insurance.

• Screen new patient inquiries and assess intake criteria.

• Schedule eligible patients for new patient intake appointments.

• Coordinate consultations that necessitate further assessment.

• Complete and accurately input patient intake documentation.

• Conduct outbound follow-up calls to patients throughout their care journey.

• Engage with patients using a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed communication style.

• Schedule and reschedule appointments while managing inquiries and post-treatment follow-ups.

• Explain subsequent steps and provide timely communication to patients.

• Manage incoming patient calls and follow up on voicemails.

• Coordinate schedules and maintain precise patient records.

• Support daily administrative workflows in the healthcare environment.

• Identify areas of inefficiency and proactively suggest process enhancements.

• Participate in virtual meetings with the camera on when necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong prior experience with U.S. healthcare billing and insurance processes is mandatory.

• Hands-on experience with processing prior authorizations is essential.

• In-depth knowledge of insurance verification, eligibility, benefits, claims, and denied claims is required.

• Familiarity with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) processes is highly desirable.

• Experience with U.S.-based healthcare practices in a remote or virtual setting is preferred.

• Background in behavioral health or mental health practices is a significant advantage.

• Experience in Rhode Island healthcare or insurance is beneficial but not essential.

• Proficiency with PracticeQ, Office Ally, Availity, or similar EHR, billing, clearinghouse, and insurance platforms is preferred.

• A medical degree or active clinical license is not required.

• A trauma-informed and compassionate communication approach with patients is essential.

• Comfort in discussing sensitive or challenging circumstances with individuals.

• A proactive mindset and the ability to suggest workflow improvements is necessary.

• Exceptional attention to detail concerning insurance, billing, authorizations, and patient records.

• Highly organized and capable of independently managing multiple administrative tasks.

• Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English, demonstrating clear and professional communication skills.

• Relevant experience in U.S. healthcare administration is required.

• Ability to submit an NBI Clearance and/or Local Police Clearance background check prior to onboarding.

• Availability for virtual video meetings with the camera on when necessary.

• Ability to uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to healthcare privacy and security protocols.

• A reliable laptop or desktop computer is required.

• A stable high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps is necessary.

• A noise-canceling headset is required.

• A working webcam is essential.

• A quiet and professional workspace is mandatory.
