Outpatient Surgery Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Code encounters related to ambulatory surgery, observation, and ancillary services.

• Review operative reports and clinical documentation to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

• Abstract clinical and demographic data into hospital information systems.

• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with guidelines set forth by CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, AHIMA, and AAPC.

• Assign and validate APCs to support claim readiness.

• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary.

• Assist with diagnostic coding for emergency department and outpatient services based on departmental volume.

• Meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy benchmarks.

• Manage assigned encounters through Epic work queues using a service-date-based workflow management approach.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a coding program accredited by AHIMA or AAPC.

• Possession of an active coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent).

• 4-5 years of recent coding experience in a hospital outpatient setting.

• Familiarity with Epic systems.

• Strong experience in facility coding.

• Experience in acute care hospitals.

• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and outpatient reimbursement methodologies.

• Must reside in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.

• Availability for a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week).
