Medical Coder, SDS or Gastro Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Accurately apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding based on provided documentation and services delivered.

• Ensure correct code sequencing, use of modifiers, and adherence to payer and regulatory standards.

• Review and rectify coding errors, claim denials, or rejected submissions.

• Complete necessary claims documentation or system entries.

• Extract additional data elements during the Chart Review process.

• Examine patient medical records and clinical documentation.

• Identify and address incomplete or missing documentation while coordinating provider inquiries.

• Stay informed on coding regulations, payer policies, and healthcare compliance requirements.

• Facilitate accurate claim submissions and billing integrity.

• Collaborate with Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Authorization teams.

• Uphold productivity and accuracy benchmarks.

• Assist in audit and compliance initiatives.

• Engage in internal and client quality audits and reviews.

• Mentor, coach, and direct billers to ensure precise coding and billing practices.

• Keep abreast of medical coding, billing standards, and auditing procedures.

• Adhere to team and/or client protocols, policies, and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to handle and safeguard confidential information.

• Graduate of medical allied courses; preference for Nurses, Physical Therapists, or Medical Technologists (ideal but not mandatory).

• Minimum of 6 months consultancy contract, with the possibility of renewal.

• 1–3 years of experience in Medical Coding.

• Preferably familiar with Gastroenterology or Same Day Surgery.

• Active coding certification (e.g., CPC).

• Flexibility in managing various specialties and client assignments.

• Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding systems.

• Willingness and ability to assist, mentor, and train billers on coding-specific requirements.

• Capacity to share coding knowledge with team members.

• Data entry proficiency: at least 50–60 accurate keystrokes per minute.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.

• Ability to work remotely with a dependable internet connection and backup.
