This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide coding and abstracting services for both physician and facility medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems.
• Review medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures.
• Select principal as well as other diagnoses and procedures according to UHDDS definitions.
• Ensure accurate DRG assignment.
• Abstract information from medical records in accordance with client guidelines.
• Meet productivity and quality performance standards.
• Enter coded charts in real-time during designated shifts.
• Query physicians about unclear or conflicting documentation.
• Engage in team meetings, mandatory training, and educational modules.
• Assist in training or shadowing other coders when needed.
• Work flexibly across various clients to fulfill classification-hour requirements.
• Participate in Coding Roundtables by delivering presentations on coding and Health Information Management topics.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Keep coding credentials active and current.
• Uphold professional communication and contribute to a positive image of the company.
• CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA credential is mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant coding experience is required.
• Experience in coding both professional-fee (PB) and facility (HB) ophthalmology charts.
• Ability to code clinic E&M, diagnosis codes, and CPTs.
• Proficiency in Epic with 3M 360 is essential.
• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding principles and guidelines.
• Familiarity with reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies.
• Must successfully complete a coding proficiency test.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• High level of coding accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must maintain current and active coding credentials.
• Ability to work remotely with extended periods of computer use and sitting.
