This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the agency manager for designated agents representing Encova Insurance, with a primary emphasis on commercial lines such as worker’s compensation and package lines.
• Accountable for meeting set premium growth and profitability targets by assessing risks, determining their acceptability, and successfully acquiring profitable new business while retaining renewal accounts.
• Proactively take actions to achieve results that enhance growth and profitability, while ensuring exceptional customer service and prompt responses to assigned agencies regarding their commercial lines accounts.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with agencies through regular interactions with agency leadership and production teams, covering:
• Agency growth and profitability with Encova.
• Progress of the agency towards Encova's profit share program and participation in the Leaders’ Conference.
• Updates and organizational changes at Encova.
• Promote growth across all Encova profit centers and designated agencies.
• Organize agency training as necessary and support agencies with the resources required to foster sustainable, long-term profitable growth with Encova across all profit centers.
• Collect competitive intelligence.
• Remain updated on current insurance laws and regulations.
• Identify and evaluate potential new agents for appointments.
• Provide written reports as required.
• Attend industry events.
• Assess the acceptability, quality, pricing, profitability, and opportunities for new and renewal business.
• Conduct comprehensive risk analysis on assigned accounts utilizing appropriate Encova, NCCI, ISO, and industry guidelines, policies, procedures, and rules.
• Identify, create, and initiate new business opportunities within the current book of business and assigned agencies.
• Collect and analyze information necessary for accurate risk evaluation.
• Determine suitable pricing based on risk exposures, quality, loss potential, and coverage provided.
• Leverage available resources, including company underwriting guidelines and business unit strategies, while consulting with others for a thorough understanding of risk exposures.
• Prepare and participate in proposals for producers, negotiating terms and conditions.
• Ensure the accurate issuance of policies, certificates, filings, and notifications.
• Utilize rules and guidance effectively to ensure proper policy construction.
• Seek management guidance on risks exceeding assigned authority limits.
• Identify underwriting challenges; recommend and develop action plans for problem resolution and implement them as needed.
• Manage existing and prospective accounts by actively engaging in account renewals, new business presentations, and discussions with agents.
• Participate in monitoring and analyzing the performance of assigned agents; initiate actions and recognize the implications of alternative actions.
• Oversee account management, including coordination of service delivery among various team disciplines such as claim review, safety and loss services, and customized reporting.
• Conduct and coordinate sales and training sessions and orientation for new products, programs, and systems for assigned agents. When necessary, lead discussions on new underwriting techniques, coverage enhancements or changes, and underwriting initiatives.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in commercial lines underwriting, particularly in package lines and/or worker’s compensation within the Property and Casualty insurance sector is strongly preferred.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred, though substantial underwriting experience may be accepted as a substitute.
• Proven working knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting, pricing, and coverage.
• Demonstrated understanding of effective sales/marketing and agency relationship techniques, including the ability to collaborate with independent insurance agents.
• Preference may be given to candidates with CPCU and/or ARM designations.
• Strong writing skills, particularly in marketing, are essential.
• Demonstrated creativity and an entrepreneurial approach to sales and marketing initiatives.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines while adhering to established guidelines.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Critical thinking skills: capacity to assess individual situations and select applicable rules from various options to arrive at the most suitable and sustainable decision.
• Comprehensive knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to the assigned territory.
• In-depth understanding of policies and procedures related to risk administration, risk management, underwriting, and loss control.
• Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry and the business environment to formulate an effective business strategy and maintain technical relevance.
• Strong understanding of business exposure calculations, classifications, experience ratings, or other plan modifications.
• Capability to develop and implement strategies for accounts, territories, producers, and books to acquire and retain business.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.
• Skill in initiating, building, and maintaining effective working relationships while tailoring services to meet customer needs.
• Proficient in using sound logic and decision-making skills to identify complex problems, analyze alternatives, and develop and implement effective solutions.
• Competence in planning and leading meetings: ensuring agendas are created, necessary materials are prepared in advance, meetings remain focused, client issues are addressed, and follow-up action plans are documented.
• Ability to present ideas and information clearly, concisely, and diplomatically to individuals and groups while addressing concerns or needs.
• Proficiency in electronic mail systems, intranet and internet use, and Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
