Production Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Create editorial content for print editions of Hearst Newspapers

• Execute page layout and organize sections effectively

• Make decisions regarding wire news

• Edit print content for clarity and accuracy

• Modify pages, which includes crafting headlines and captions, choosing photos, and adjusting stories to fit

• Review and proofread pages

• Typeset pages within the specified deadlines

• Edit and deliver sports news mainly for Hearst publications across Texas, particularly in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin

• Collaborate on various topics and assist in other areas of the operation beyond sports

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in page layout and section organization

• Strong skills in copy editing, including writing headlines and captions

• Capability to complete and typeset pages promptly

• Experience in print news production

• Ability to collaborate with multiple products and individuals with a focus on customer service

• Background in newspaper editing, headline creation, and caption writing

• Familiarity with sports story and page editing is advantageous

• Experience in newspaper page proofing

• Excellent command of the English language

• CUE/CCI experience is a bonus

• Specialization in sports journalism with the flexibility to work in other areas of the operation

• Adaptability and the ability to adjust editing and finishing depth based on role requirements
