This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the implementation of Upstart’s secured lending quality control program encompassing origination, servicing, and collections, which includes pre-close and post-close reviews, compliance testing, reviews of denied/withdrawn applications, investor defect analysis, and assessments of non-performing loans.

• Manage the QC sampling methodology to ensure that sample selection is risk-based and statistically sound, in accordance with regulatory standards.

• Act as the product owner for the QC Engine, responsible for rule approval, output validation, threshold calibration, and performance reporting.

• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for defect trends, investor kickouts, repurchase demands, early payment defaults, and other quality-related issues.

• Create quality reporting, dashboards, and trend analyses for senior leadership, highlighting defect trends, escape rates, cure rates, sampling coverage, and the status of corrective actions.

• Prepare the Quality function for audits and regulatory examinations through effective documentation, evidence management, and processes that are ready for examination.

• Collaborate with Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and servicing teams to ensure alignment on quality standards, escalation procedures, and remediation timelines.

• Supervise quality reviews of third-party, subservicer, servicing, and collections to ensure compliance with relevant consumer lending regulations.

• Assist in model risk monitoring through quality reviews linked to credit decisioning, accuracy of adverse actions, and trends in early defaults.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in quality control, compliance testing, or risk management within consumer lending, particularly with secured lending products such as mortgages, home equity, or auto loans.

• At least 2 years of experience in leading a QC team or managing quality analysts or auditors.

• Proven experience in conducting pre-close and post-close file reviews, identifying defects, performing root cause analysis, and managing corrective actions.

• Familiarity with regulatory examinations and responses involving agencies like the OCC, FDIC, CFPB, or state regulators.

• Experience in designing or implementing QC sampling methodologies, including both random and risk-based sampling approaches.

• Knowledge of non-performing loan reviews, early default analysis, repurchase reviews, or oversight of servicing quality.

• Solid understanding of key consumer lending regulations that apply to secured products.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
