This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and implement detailed test plans and test scenarios for new features, platform enhancements, and integration modifications.
• Conduct functional, regression, integration, and comprehensive end-to-end testing.
• Assess API functionality, ensuring accuracy in requests/responses, effective error handling, edge case management, and data integrity.
• Evaluate multi-step workflows that traverse Metrc's platform and third-party integrations, including POS systems, ERP solutions, and state regulatory reporting interfaces.
• Contribute to the strategies for test automation and create or update automated testing scripts as necessary.
• Investigate and replicate software defects arising from internal QA, customer escalations, and cross-departmental channels.
• Carry out root cause analysis on software failures.
• Oversee the entire defect lifecycle in Jira, including recording, prioritizing, retesting, and resolution.
• Collaborate with Engineering to verify bug fixes and ensure solutions meet the established acceptance criteria.
• Identify recurring issue patterns and communicate findings to QA and Product leadership.
• Validate complete technical workflows and data flows across integrated systems.
• Test configuration-driven behaviors, encompassing state-specific compliance regulations, licensee settings, and feature toggles.
• Assess the impact of platform changes on downstream integrations and identify potential release-readiness risks.
• Work alongside the Configuration Specialist on customer-specific platform configurations during onboarding or go-live processes.
• Engage in release-readiness assessments and provide documented evaluations of QA preparedness.
• Relay test status updates, unresolved defects, and risk evaluations to Product, Engineering, and the Release Manager.
• Aid in defining acceptance criteria for new features and user stories.
• Uphold QA standards and release-readiness benchmarks alongside the Head of Quality.
• Keep QA documentation updated in Confluence and Jira.
• Contribute to QA methodologies, testing frameworks, and standards.
• Participate in post-release evaluations and translate insights into actionable improvements.
• Remain informed about the latest software QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• 4+ years of experience in software QA engineering within a SaaS or software product setting.
• Proven experience in testing APIs and validating intricate technical workflows across integrated systems.
• Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or equivalent.
• Capability to independently create, execute, and assess API test cases.
• Strong grasp of software development lifecycles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and the role of QA within sprint-based delivery models.
• Advanced skills in Jira for defect management, test tracking, and reporting.
• Experience with Confluence for documentation purposes.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a systematic approach to root cause analysis in multi-system environments.
• Strong written communication capabilities.
• Experience in regulated, compliance-oriented, or government-related industries.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of SQL or similar query tools (preferred).
• Background in testing configuration-driven or multi-tenant SaaS platforms (preferred).
• Experience validating integrations with POS systems, ERP solutions, or state regulatory reporting interfaces (preferred).
• Understanding of cannabis technology, track-and-trace compliance requirements, or state regulatory software environments (preferred).
• ISTQB certification or equivalent formal QA training (a plus).
