Product & Privacy Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams from the initial concept through to the launch phase.

• Provide guidance on legal matters pertaining to product development, data usage, privacy, security, artificial intelligence, integrations, and APIs.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams on questions related to privacy, AI, and compliance.

• Establish scalable processes for product launch reviews, create legal checklists, and develop internal guidance and playbooks.

• Lead and manage the global strategy for privacy, data protection, and AI governance, ensuring regulatory compliance across applicable jurisdictions.

• Offer advice on global privacy, regulatory, and compliance factors relevant to Supabase products.

• Assist customer and go-to-market teams with issues related to privacy contracts, product terms, security and privacy inquiries, and enterprise risk assessments.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of legal frameworks for AI and data usage, product claims, third-party integrations, and commitments to partners and customers.

• Work collaboratively across functions including Security, Finance, Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and People as Supabase expands.

• Act as a pivotal legal resource in cross-functional leadership discussions, particularly regarding regulatory risk, privacy strategies, and product direction.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8 to 12+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house privacy counsel experience, ideally within global SaaS organizations handling sensitive customer data.

• Extensive experience advising technical product teams, SaaS, cloud solutions, developer tools, data, AI, security, or infrastructure teams.

• Familiarity with privacy, data protection, and product compliance regulations.

• Capability to convert legal risks into actionable, business-oriented recommendations.

• Excellent written communication skills and ability to collaborate asynchronously.

• Proven experience in establishing scalable legal processes, templates, playbooks, or product review frameworks.

• Admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

• Demonstrated ability to work with significant autonomy and contribute to the leadership of the legal function.
