This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take full ownership of the Billing product area from start to finish: establish the vision, prioritize the backlog, craft clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and guarantee the successful delivery of features.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure that billing solutions comply with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
• Work in partnership with engineering and platform teams to create secure, resilient, and scalable payment and invoicing systems, accommodating multiple currencies, tax treatments, and various payment providers.
• Propel continuous improvement in billing operations by minimizing manual reconciliation, enhancing cash collection, and automating dispute resolution and refunds.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Success and Sales teams to grasp commercial contracts, pricing models, and invoicing requirements; convert these insights into product capabilities that facilitate new business models and market growth.
• Define and monitor KPIs related to billing health and performance (e.g., DSO, failed payments, reconciliation rate) and leverage data to influence prioritization.
• Assist with migrations and integrations of external ERPs and accounting systems to ensure data integrity and seamless financial closing processes.
• Serve as the product authority during planning, grooming, and delivery ceremonies; effectively communicate the roadmap, trade-offs, and release plans to stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience (3+ years) as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or a similar role focused on billing, payments, invoicing, or finance-related products within a technology or SaaS environment.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles (including revenue recognition), VAT/GST, and cross-border tax implications; experience collaborating with finance teams is crucial.
• Practical experience in defining user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritizing backlogs within an agile framework.
• Experience with integration of payment gateways, acquiring banks, and/or ERP/accounting systems (AP/AR) is highly preferred.
• A data-driven mindset with robust analytical skills; proficient in defining and monitoring product metrics and utilizing them to guide decision-making.
• Outstanding communication skills in English, capable of articulating complex trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer-oriented and pragmatic: adept at balancing immediate operational demands with long-term platform stability and scalability.
• Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
