This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +12 more states.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available systems on AWS.
• Take ownership of CI/CD pipelines and enhance deployment automation.
• Manage and advance infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform and Ansible.
• Explore new tools and technologies, create proofs of concept, and integrate validated practices within the team.
• Enhance system reliability by refining alerting mechanisms, creating runbooks, and increasing observability across our stack (Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Tempo).
• Engage in an on-call rotation; off-hours incidents are infrequent due to extensive automation and self-healing—occasional evening work is restricted to scheduled maintenance and system upgrades.
• Maintain process documentation, operational runbooks, and infrastructure diagrams.
• Assist in the maintenance and management of systems for other teams.
• Elevate the DevOps knowledge of the engineering team by mentoring junior engineers and assisting non-infrastructure engineers in establishing best practices for deployments, observability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on decisions regarding infrastructure design.
• Over 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly available, fault-tolerant systems in cloud environments.
• Practical experience with AWS services including EC2, ECR, CloudFront, Route 53, etc.
• Familiarity with containerization and workload orchestration (Docker, Nomad).
• Expertise in infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• In-depth understanding of CI/CD practices, including automated testing and deployment automation.
• Strong Linux and shell/bash scripting capabilities.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and messaging systems (RabbitMQ).
• Background in regulated or compliance-driven environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, FedRAMP).
