Product Manager – Market Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Establish and expand Alpaca's market data business as an independent, revenue-generating product line.

• Take ownership of Alpaca's market data strategy, both as a platform capability and as a standalone product.

• Determine the types of data to source, methods for packaging and pricing, and the decisions regarding in-house development versus purchasing.

• Deliver APIs, feeds, and tools for partners and internal teams.

• Lead negotiations or provide insights during negotiations on exchange licensing, redistribution rights, and entitlements.

• Evaluate data infrastructure sourcing, proprietary collection and normalization, and derived data products.

• Establish pricing and packaging strategies and collaborate with sales to enhance market data revenue.

• Analyze competitive positioning and pinpoint Alpaca's brokerage-plus-data advantage.

• Oversee coverage, latency, reliability, and documentation for market data APIs.

• Direct partner discovery and translate data requirements into prioritization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in defining and owning market data strategies.

• Proficient in negotiating or advising on negotiations concerning exchange licensing, redistribution rights, and entitlements.

• Capability to evaluate build-vs-buy decisions related to data infrastructure.

• Experience in establishing pricing and packaging for market data products.

• In-depth understanding of competitive positioning and pricing among market data providers.

• Experience overseeing developer experience for market data APIs, including REST, WebSocket/SSE, and historical endpoints.

• Ability to conduct partner discovery and prioritize market data functionalities.

• Familiarity with licensing, entitlement, and redistribution limitations across exchanges, asset classes, and regions.
