This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the Product Manager overseeing modernization initiatives for case notification and provide product management support across various modernization workstreams.
• Partner with CDC personnel, public health subject-matter experts, jurisdictional collaborators, and technical teams to collect, analyze, and enhance business and functional requirements.
• Create epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and other Agile product documentation.
• Convert surveillance workflows and user requirements into clear, actionable product specifications.
• Assist in product planning, roadmap creation, release planning, and feature prioritization.
• Facilitate sprint planning and feature presentations.
• Aid in user acceptance testing, release readiness, implementation planning, and product documentation.
• Sustain, manage, and enhance product backlogs to align tasks with priorities and objectives.
• Support the application of national public health interoperability standards, implementation guidance, and surveillance methodologies during product development.
• Collaborate with public health informaticians, epidemiologists, standards specialists, and engineers to support operational public health workflows.
• Assess stakeholder feedback and propose product enhancements.
• Liaise with CDC programs, STLT public health partners, and internal delivery teams to gather insights and convey product direction.
• A Bachelor's degree in public health, health informatics, information systems, computer science, or a related discipline coupled with nine (9) years of pertinent experience, or a Master's degree in a relevant field and seven (7) years of experience.
• Familiarity with communicable disease surveillance systems such as NBS or NNDSS.
• Experience collaborating with CDC or STLT public health agencies.
• Proven ability to gather and document business and functional requirements.
• Background in developing user stories, acceptance criteria, or other Agile product documentation.
• Knowledge of public health surveillance systems and a demonstrated understanding of surveillance principles and practices.
• Strong communication skills with technical teams, public health professionals, and executive stakeholders.
• Capability to complete and maintain a federal government Position of Public Trust Level 5 background investigation.
• Preferred: proficiency in working effectively within a distributed, team-oriented, collaborative environment alongside federal partners and contractors.
• Preferred: experience in supporting public health modernization or health information exchange initiatives.
• Preferred: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification.
• Must be a resident of the United States.
