This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, encompassing opportunity identification, feasibility analysis, design, testing, commercialization, launch, and ongoing improvements.
• Spot new wire and cable product opportunities driven by customer requirements, market trends, competitive landscape, technical viability, and organizational strategy.
• Create product concepts, business cases, technical specifications, product roadmaps, and execution strategies for new offerings and enhancements.
• Assess product-market fit, development costs, pricing strategies, margin potential, manufacturability, scalability, and commercialization risks.
• Collect feedback from customers, distributors, sales teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to inform product direction and prioritize the portfolio.
• Conduct or supervise electrical design, wire and cable selection, component sizing, system architecture, and technical integration.
• Develop and evaluate product drawings, schematics, technical specifications, bills of materials, design calculations, and testing prerequisites.
• Ensure products comply with relevant electrical codes, safety standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.
• Lead investigations into product quality, reliability, and performance issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Propel design and process enhancements that improve reliability, manufacturability, safety, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, marketing, and finance to ensure product initiatives are aligned and progressing.
• Assist in product positioning, value propositions, launch strategies, technical messaging, and other go-to-market efforts.
• Offer product and technical insights to customers, distributors, channel partners, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor product performance and advise on whether products should be expanded, modified, repositioned, standardized, or discontinued.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• A minimum of five years of experience in product development, product engineering, electrical design, technical product management, or a related engineering role.
• Proven experience in guiding products or engineered solutions from initial concept through design, testing, validation, and commercial launch.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical system design, wire and cable selection, component sizing, system integration, and technical documentation.
• Experience in developing, reviewing, or approving technical specifications, product drawings, schematics, design calculations, bills of materials, or similar engineering documentation.
• Background in evaluating electrical performance, environmental conditions, material requirements, safety aspects, cost, and manufacturability during product development.
• Demonstrated capability to lead complex projects involving engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and other commercial functions.
• Ability to assess technical alternatives and make informed decisions that balance product performance, quality, cost, timing, customer needs, and scalability.
• Familiarity with product costs, pricing strategies, margins, manufacturing requirements, and commercial feasibility.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate technical subjects clearly to customers, commercial teams, suppliers, and senior leadership.
• Capacity to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and create structure in developing processes.
• Willingness and capability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
