Product Design Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Report to a manager within the Product Design team, part of the larger Design group.

• Collaborate with writers, designers, developers, product managers, marketers, and support engineers to ensure that our narratives are cohesive and provide an excellent experience for our customers.

• Gain insights into the entire design and product development lifecycle: observe how product designers operate from discovery through to delivery across products such as Jira, Confluence, Trello, and more.

• Contribute to design projects that have a tangible impact on real users, rather than merely engaging in 'practice' initiatives.

• Receive mentorship from seasoned designers who will support your work, provide feedback, and facilitate your growth throughout the internship.

• Collaborate with product designers, product managers, engineers, and occasionally researchers and content designers.

• Experience Atlassian’s culture and programs: participate in company-wide and cross-regional initiatives, events, and design community activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time (40 hours per week) program from November 2026 to February 2027.

• Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program and planning to return to the program after the internship, with graduation expected by December 2027.

• Strong enthusiasm for user-centered design, demonstrating a deep commitment to addressing genuine user challenges.

• Capable of managing multiple projects effectively - adept at planning your time and balancing design tasks.

• Collaborative mindset - enjoys working closely with engineers, PMs, and fellow designers.

• Understanding of what constitutes effective design, whether through personal design/UI projects or collaboration with designers in a team setting.

• Experience making decisions amidst uncertainty and change.
