Product Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Provide legal advice to Product, Engineering, and other interdisciplinary teams throughout the entire product development process.

• Evaluate and analyze new products, features, and initiatives, delivering prompt, business-focused legal counsel that balances risk management with innovation and execution speed.

• Advise teams on matters related to intellectual property, software licensing, privacy, AI, security, and regulatory considerations impacting company products.

• Create scalable legal guidance, policies, playbooks, and training materials that enable teams to make informed decisions.

• Collaborate with commercial, privacy, security, compliance, and corporate legal colleagues to tackle cross-functional legal challenges and promote alignment.

• Keep abreast of emerging legal, regulatory, and industry trends and convert them into actionable advice.

• Carry out other related duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

• 4-7 years of pertinent legal experience advising SaaS companies.

• Provide high-quality legal analysis, meticulous attention to detail, and effective execution across a wide array of product counseling matters.

• Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) with the capability to clearly articulate and justify risk analysis and effectively convey complex concepts to technical, business, legal, and executive audiences.

• Function effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments while managing competing priorities and business goals to achieve results.

• Possess a creative mindset and the ability to identify solutions where others perceive obstacles.

• Experience advising software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools companies on open-source software licensing, compliance, and governance is a plus.

• Familiarity with AI tools (such as Claude or similar) to improve legal workflow efficiency.
