This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide legal advice to Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams regarding legal matters throughout the product development process.
• Evaluate and analyze new products, features, and initiatives, offering prompt, business-focused legal insights that balance risk management with innovation and execution speed.
• Advise teams on matters related to intellectual property, software licensing, privacy, AI, security, and regulatory issues impacting company products.
• Create scalable legal guidance, policies, playbooks, and training resources that enable teams to make well-informed decisions.
• Collaborate with commercial, privacy, security, compliance, and corporate legal teams to tackle cross-functional legal challenges and ensure alignment.
• Stay updated on emerging legal, regulatory, and industry changes and convert them into actionable guidance.
• Perform additional related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar association.
• 4-7 years of pertinent legal experience advising SaaS companies.
• Provide high-quality legal analysis, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and execute across a diverse range of product counseling issues.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to effectively articulate and defend risk assessments and convey complex concepts clearly to technical, business, legal, and executive stakeholders.
• Function effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced settings while managing competing priorities and business goals to achieve results.
• Innovative mindset with the capacity to identify solutions in situations where others see obstacles.
• Experience advising software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools companies on open-source software licensing, compliance, and governance is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools (such as Claude or similar) to improve legal workflow efficiency.
