Producer, Newsgathering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Correspondent and show teams to create, report, and present engaging, visually striking stories featuring clear narratives and thoroughly researched journalism.

• Propose, produce, write, and verify stories across NBC News' linear and streaming platforms, encompassing daily news, long-form articles, and cross-platform content.

• Conduct original reporting, extensive research, and source interviews.

• Secure guest bookings in a competitive landscape; perform pre-interviews and prepare talking points.

• Readily travel to cover stories and commit to being on the road for the duration required.

• Collaborate with control rooms, senior producers, and editorial teams to create rundowns, write introductions, and produce both live and recorded segments.

• Manage field operations, including live shots, remote anchor setups, and coverage of breaking news.

• Track and oversee the correspondent’s schedule when working closely with them.

• Work in close collaboration with editors to ensure the production of high-quality video packages, graphics, and audio.

• Partner with Standards & Legal teams to ensure all content aligns with editorial and corporate standards.

• Maintain effective communication between the Correspondent, senior management, and production teams.

• Contribute creative ideas for a diverse array of content, including daily news, lifestyle features, celebrity interviews, and human-interest stories.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in network news, cable, or talk show production, covering both live and taped segments.

• Strong writing, research, and editorial judgment skills in journalism.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. politics, current events, pop culture, and lifestyle trends.

• Experience with shooting (DSLR or similar) and editing (Avid and/or Adobe Premiere).

• Proficient in navigating newsroom tools and technologies (Slack, NCX, Latakoo, etc.).

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments under tight deadlines.

• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime on short notice.

• Ability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally.

• Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across teams.
