Prior Authorization Technician – Pharmacy Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Assist in patient care by eliminating obstacles to medication accessibility.

• Collaborate with insurance companies and healthcare providers to facilitate medication approvals via prior authorizations.

• Work together with patients and funding entities, such as foundations and pharmaceutical manufacturers, to secure financial help for high-cost copays.

• Provide telephone support to patients.

• Navigate pharmacy dispensing systems to process claims and manage refills.

• Encourage medication adherence among patients.

• Communicate directly with insurance providers to aid in medication approvals.

• Use pharmacy operating systems to enter data, adjudicate test claims, and create follow-up action plans.

• Record patient concerns, prior authorization statuses, and financial assistance requirements across various databases, electronic medical records, and email systems.

• Review prescriptions in collaboration with physicians’ offices.

• Keep thorough and precise records of patient interactions.

• Help patients manage their pharmacy insurance claims.

• Partner with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons to ensure coordinated patient care.

• Conduct research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.

• Manage, organize, and refresh data within database systems.

• Enhance operations, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.

• Identify trends, resolve issues, suggest improvements, and implement necessary changes.

• Engage in process improvement initiatives.

• Serve as a value-added business partner to organizational stakeholders.

• Uphold confidentiality of information.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be an experienced, state-registered pharmacy technician.

• A pharmacy technician license is mandatory for Florida, as specified in the job title.

• For residents of states without registration requirements (like Delaware, Hawaii, or New York), you must agree to obtain a state license within six months of employment.

• National certification (PTCB or NHA) is required upon hiring for candidates in states lacking registration requirements.

• PTCB or NHA certification is highly preferred but not mandatory in other circumstances; it must be acquired within nine months of employment.

• Additional required licensure must be secured within a mutually agreed-upon timeframe.

• Continued employment is dependent on meeting licensure and certification criteria.

• A minimum of one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.

• A high school diploma or GED is necessary.

• Competent computer skills are essential.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.

• Ability to navigate the internet and web-based platforms is necessary.

• Data entry and computer skills will be assessed through a pre-employment evaluation.
