This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Provide technical leadership to a varied engineering team focused on the development of advanced multifunction RF, processing, networking, and/or data storage systems for space applications.
• Take ownership of the systems engineering process for various programs.
• Ensure the successful completion of systems analysis and trades, management of the technical baseline, and verification and validation of requirements.
• Serve as the technical champion, representative, and primary point of contact for the program.
• Prepare for and deliver presentations at significant internal and external customer design reviews.
• Offer technical expertise for IR&D and initiatives related to new products.
• Assist in proposal efforts for new business ventures.
• Collaborate with program managers and project chief engineers to guarantee successful execution of programs.
• Support program teams in resolving issues using a comprehensive systems engineering approach.
• Work alongside engineering leadership to foster the growth of a robust engineering organization.
• Support travel to the corporate headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, as required, up to 25% of the time.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 9 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 7 years with a master's degree.
• Proven experience leading the creation and delivery of intricate spaceflight or aerospace hardware from concept to qualification, production, and customer delivery.
• Highly skilled in one or more engineering or scientific fields, with a strong understanding across various relevant technical/scientific domains.
• Proficient in employing systems engineering methods in product design and development.
• Ability to balance technical performance with program budget and schedule objectives.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Preferred: MS degree in a STEM discipline.
• Experience with software-defined systems.
• Familiarity with the product development life cycles in the space industry.
• Background in high-reliability, high-survivability, and/or space environment applications.
• Experience in designing complex electronic products, including PCBAs, mechanical structures, mission software, and FPGA firmware.
• Familiarity with Xilinx devices, such as Zynq UltraScale+ or Versal architecture.
• Knowledge of VPX standards (VITA 46 and VITA 65).
• Experience in implementing embedded hardware.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, PCB routing, high-speed data design, mixed-signal analysis/design, and signal integrity analysis.
• Background in signal processing and/or algorithm development.
• Proficient with CAD tools like PSpice, LTspice, Altium, SOLIDWORKS, and Keysight ADS.
• Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as STK, MATLAB Simulink, requirements management/databases, and MBSE.
• Experience with one or more OSI model layers and a solid understanding of networking protocols.
