This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist in strategic decision-making: Participate in the creation of innovative research studies that analyze the effects of educational innovations on learner outcomes, taking into account socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic diversity.
• Research design and execution: Work alongside other key team members to formulate proposals, analysis plans, and produce high-quality research outputs utilizing a variety of data sets and methodological techniques.
• Advanced data analysis leadership: Employ contemporary statistical programming tools such as R, SAS, or Python to integrate and assess large, intricate data sets and to establish and maintain analytic workflows, tools, or interactive dashboards (e.g., using Tableau or Excel).
• Support for collaborative initiatives: Facilitate partnerships with educators, education leaders, and/or technology producers in research-practice collaborations by providing guidance on the valid inferences that can be drawn from available data to enhance design iterations and refinements.
• Contribution to dissemination and communication: Lead and contribute to scholarly dissemination activities. Interpret complex quantitative results into clear stories and visual representations for non-technical audiences, including educators, school leaders, funders, and policymakers.
• Leadership and mentoring: In this senior role, the statistician will provide advice and collaborate with other quantitative analysts, potentially mentoring colleagues in the acquisition and application of various analytic techniques.
• A doctorate in (1) statistics, educational evaluation, psychometrics, or data science with significant experience in education data analysis preferred, or (2) education or social sciences with a focus on quantitative methods.
• Proficiency in advanced statistical methodologies (such as multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, Bayesian analysis, longitudinal modeling, causal inference) along with expertise in sampling and psychometrics (e.g., generalizability) theory.
• Nationally recognized for leading large-scale research studies and impactful dissemination efforts, including first authorship of technical reports and peer-reviewed publications on methodological topics, as well as experience serving as a technical advisor to education projects outside their own organization.
• Strong proficiency with tools like R, SAS, or Python to integrate and analyze large data sets and to develop and maintain analytic instruments.
• A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in analyzing quantitative education data.
• Experience with multilevel data sets and conducting longitudinal analyses.
• Outstanding communication skills; demonstrated ability to engage with quantitative analysts as a mentor and to explain analytic methods and findings to non-technical audiences.
• Experience and/or interest in emerging educational technology and AI is an advantage.
