Principal Software Engineer – Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead by Example: Design and implement scalable, secure software solutions while offering technical guidance, mentoring engineers, performing code reviews, and establishing engineering best practices.

• Hands-On Development: Create and develop contemporary React applications integrated with Java Spring Boot services, crafting responsive user interfaces for desktops, rugged tablets, and handheld devices used in Army environments.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and maintain secure applications and APIs in Microsoft Azure, utilizing containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to support scalable, mission-critical systems.

• RFID & Edge Device Integration: Develop software that works with passive and active RFID technologies, handheld scanners, mobile computing devices, and peripheral hardware to enhance Army logistics, inventory management, and asset visibility.

• Army Customer Engagement: Work directly with Army stakeholders, program offices, and end users to gather requirements, validate technical solutions, and deliver capabilities that function reliably within Army enterprise network environments.

• Mission Systems Engineering: Create solutions that function across secure DoD infrastructures while fulfilling cybersecurity, performance, reliability, and interoperability requirements.

• Agile Technical Leadership: Collaborate with Product Managers to refine technical requirements, estimate work, manage backlogs, and guide engineering teams through successful sprint execution and production deployments.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with software engineers, UX designers, systems engineers, infrastructure teams, and government stakeholders to produce high-quality mission software from concept to fielding.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience in delivering enterprise applications.

• Proven experience in leading development teams and mentoring engineers.

• Strong proficiency in React, Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript/TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.

• Experience in building and utilizing REST APIs.

• Familiarity with deploying applications in Microsoft Azure.

• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Current Security+ certification.

• Understanding of Army or DoD enterprise network environments.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer engagement skills.

• Experience in leading agile teams and managing backlogs.
