
Principal Software Engineer – Robot Applications, Voice AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop high-level application software, interaction workflows, and robotic behavioral state machines.
• Create the foundational logic that converts human speech, gestures, environmental signals, and contextual data into deterministic robotic functions.
• Integrate vision pipelines, object detection, scene comprehension, spatial tracking, and voice interactions to enhance contextual awareness.
• Design robust voice applications that manage STT, NLU, dialog management, wake-word detection, and TTS interfaces.
• Construct orchestration workflows that incorporate LLMs, VLMs, memory systems, tool calling, reasoning engines, and robotic functionalities.
• Utilize and orchestrate navigation, manipulation, perception, and device-control services provided by the robotics platform.
• Optimize applications to achieve a balance between low-latency local execution and cloud-based AI services.
• Connect robots with mobile devices, smart home systems, enterprise applications, and cloud APIs.
• Establish telemetry, logging, and evaluation systems that support continuous model enhancement.
• Participate in testing, observability, CI/CD, and production deployment methodologies.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering using Python and/or C++.
• Strong expertise in BehaviorTree.CPP, state machines, workflow orchestration engines, or task-planning architectures.
• Practical experience in developing applications utilizing LLMs, VLMs, tool-calling frameworks, agent architectures, RAG systems, or semantic memory platforms.
• Proficient in designing scalable application-layer software, API-driven systems, distributed services, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience in optimizing software for resource-constrained edge hardware under conditions of intermittent connectivity.
• Familiarity with integrating cloud AI services, model serving platforms, and containerized deployments.
• Skills in automated testing, debugging, monitoring, observability, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to design natural, context-aware human-machine interactions.
