This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for the robotics framework in Blue River's autonomous construction initiative.

• Make informed decisions regarding build-vs-reuse-vs-buy for essential subsystems and oversee their implementation.

• Design safety systems and architectures for heavy autonomous machinery.

• Collaborate with mechatronics, platform, and field operations teams on system integration, initial setup, and field validation.

• Guide and enhance the skills of engineers.

• Take ownership of the architecture related to localization, planning, controls, and safety systems.

• Identify common methodologies across autonomy projects, enhance code reuse, and boost engineering efficiency across the company.

• Influence foundational architectural choices for autonomous construction systems.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in architecting and delivering autonomous systems, making structural choices for robotics or autonomous vehicle initiatives from concept to production.

• Extensive and comprehensive technical insight across the robotics technology stack.

• Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions that span team boundaries and build consensus.

• Capability to navigate uncertainty and drive ambiguous challenges to successful outcomes.

• Strong software development skills, including experience with production code and code reviews in compiled programming languages.

• Well-formed opinions regarding software architecture, testing, and code quality.

• Over 10 years of experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or related fields, or comparable depth with fewer years and a relevant graduate degree.

• Preferred experience in off-highway, construction, or agricultural autonomy.

• Familiarity with safety practices for autonomous vehicles, including hazard analysis, safe behavior design, and runtime monitoring is preferred.

• Experience in building and scaling robotics teams and codebases from early-stage development to production is preferred.
