Principal Software Engineer – Product Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the technical owner and force multiplier for an API-first architecture throughout the organization.

• Design, develop, and enhance high-scale APIs utilized by internal teams, external clients, and intelligent agents.

• Lead the creation of agentic workflows, encompassing orchestration, state management, tooling, and integration patterns.

• Propel API standards, design principles, and best practices through practical engagement and technical assessments.

• Address intricate cross-team challenges where requirements are unclear, and constraints are tangible.

• Collaborate with Product, Platform, and SRE teams to guarantee APIs are dependable, observable, secure, and scalable.

• Identify and mitigate systemic technical risks while empowering teams to expedite their progress.

• Mentor senior engineers and elevate the technical standards through example rather than authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a senior staff/principal-level software engineer working on applications and backend systems.

• Experience in building product platforms or shared services utilized by multiple product teams.

• Proven success in designing, constructing, and managing APIs at scale.

• Strong practical experience with RESTful APIs.

• Some familiarity with GraphQL (design, usage, or operating in production).

• In-depth understanding of system design, performance, reliability, and evolution over time.

• Strong inclination towards hands-on contribution and ownership of real systems.

• Ability to sway technical direction across teams through credibility and effective execution.
