Principal Software Engineer, IT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the enhancement and modernization of essential operational data stores for customer information.

• Direct the creation of data pathways connecting internal and external systems, particularly focusing on integration with identity and access management services.

• Manage all facets of application design, providing insights on application architecture, contemporary technologies, development methodologies, and frameworks to foster sustainable technology.

• Ensure the security and compliance of the data and services that are stored and transmitted by these systems.

• Spearhead the development of innovative technologies grounded in best practices while mentoring junior team members.

• Supervise vendor teams to realize our technical vision, reducing technical debt and ensuring consistent, productive output from our partners.

• Act as the domain technical authority, articulating system capabilities to both business and technology teams, comprehending desired business outcomes, and steering the solution toward the most effective implementation, while confidently communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities at all organizational levels.

• Engage in cross-functional teams to define and refine technical best practices; advocate for these practices and support necessary changes across teams.

• Contribute to the definition and establishment of DevOps best practices, including Production Support and deployment processes, and assist in troubleshooting critical production issues.

• Possess strong communication skills, capable of effectively distilling key points of a subject and transforming them into compelling conversations, presentations, or emails.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience is preferred.

• 5 to 7 years of software delivery experience in an agile environment is required, while 7+ years is desired, particularly with proven expertise in developing enterprise, web, and/or mobile applications.

• Experience in delivering applications at scale through agile frameworks such as SAFe is essential.

• Strong proficiency in developing and interfacing with database technologies is required (Oracle, MongoDB preferred).

• A solid foundation in DevOps is required, including fluency in CI/CD, and quality/security/performance automation.

• Expertise in cloud technologies and platforms, including Azure and AWS, along with knowledge of data networking, is required.

• Hands-on experience in Oracle database performance improvement and optimization is advantageous.

• Experience with relational databases, document databases, and PL/SQL is required.

• Familiarity with developing for OAuth and integrating IAM platforms is preferred.

• Experience in Web Component Development for J2EE and Java 2 Platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with REST and SOAP-based web services is preferred.

• Experience with Postman, SOAPUI, and Mockito is preferred.

• Excellent organizational and planning capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
