Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture and design of distributed systems that handle millions of insurance leads and transactions.

• Lead by example through active coding, conducting technical reviews, and optimizing systems.

• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Data teams to develop scalable API integrations and microservices.

• Assess new technologies and frameworks to improve performance and maintainability.

• Facilitate cross-functional development using various programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, Go).

• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, promoting a high-performing and collaborative work environment.

• Ensure that all engineering deliverables meet security, reliability, and compliance standards.

• Contribute to the strategic planning of the technology roadmap and align with cross-team objectives.

• Execute other related duties, ad hoc tasks, and special projects as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.


⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, particularly in backend or platform roles.

• Advanced skills in Java along with practical experience in at least one other language such as Kotlin, Python, Go, or TypeScript.

• A demonstrated history of designing, building, and scaling distributed systems and microservice architectures in high-traffic settings.

• Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and integration with both internal and external services.

• In-depth knowledge of system performance, reliability, and observability (profiling, logging, metrics, alerting).

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with contemporary CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and best practices in code quality.

• Experience collaborating closely with Product, DevOps, and Data teams to deliver features and platform capabilities.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is also acceptable.
