Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as a vital contributor in the development of key products at Outschool, showcasing exceptional expertise in domain knowledge, user empathy, engineering design, system quality, and collaboration across functions.

• Implement innovative 0-to-1 initiatives with a proactive and solution-oriented approach, viewing ambiguity as a chance for growth rather than a hurdle.

• Drive Outschool's transformation into AI-native development as both a cross-team leader and a committed individual contributor who sets a strong example.

• Take on people management duties as necessary, including daily support, performance evaluations, and career advancement initiatives.

• Act as a senior engineering leader to influence Outschool's engineering culture and processes, especially from an AI perspective.

• Assist in recruitment efforts by identifying, interviewing, and onboarding top engineering talent.

• Engage in stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, production deployments, and on-call rotations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• Expertise in full-stack development, including TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.

• A proven history of success in AI-native development and guiding teams in this area.

• Senior technical leadership experience: you have established direction, made architectural decisions, and elevated team performance.

• Experience with or a strong desire for people management: you are a natural mentor who fosters the growth of those around you.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities: capable of translating complex technical issues into understandable terms for engineers, product partners, and leadership.
