• Lead strategic initiatives in a hands-on manner, implementing high-impact architectural enhancements to our graph database engine, backend services, and core platform components.
• Proactively reduce technical debt by setting architectural standards, identifying potential scaling issues, and guiding the team through a thoughtful evolution of the codebase.
• Advocate for and implement AI-first engineering practices within the team—determining how we integrate AI into daily development, ensuring our codebase and platform function seamlessly with AI tools, and designing product features that simplify the creation of AI-powered automation on Infrahub.
• Provide technical leadership via architecture reviews, code reviews, RFC/design document creation, and mentorship, thereby enhancing the overall capabilities and decision-making of the engineering team.
• Collaborate with the Product team, Head of Engineering, and CTO to foresee scaling challenges and translate the business roadmap into a technical strategy, ensuring our software architecture facilitates product innovation.
• Engage closely with engineers during implementation phases, ensuring that architectural decisions are comprehensively understood and executed while upholding high velocity and code quality.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in backend and platform engineering, with a proven history of building and scaling complex systems that handle real production loads.
• Proficiency in Python at an expert level and a deep understanding of writing performant, maintainable code within large codebases.
• Experience in developing platforms or tools that other engineers can utilize.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling distributed systems, including API design, data consistency patterns, and architectural trade-offs at scale.
• A history of leading significant initiatives or platform architecture design, with examples of enhancing system scalability, reliability, or developer velocity.
• A hands-on software architect mindset—comfortable with writing code, reviewing designs, and mentoring engineers to uplift the entire team's technical skills.
• A strong belief in AI-first engineering and a desire to promote its adoption across the team, transforming our software development processes and enabling customers to effectively utilize AI.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—capable of producing clear design documents, presenting technical strategies to leadership, and collaborating effectively with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
• Self-motivated and effective in remote work environments, with at least 4 hours of overlap with the CET timezone (suitable locations include Europe, the UK, or the US East Coast).
• The people: Collaborate with world-class engineers who have successfully built and scaled automation platforms in production. Encounter daily technical challenges alongside intelligent colleagues who encourage your growth.
• The product: Influence the development of Infrahub based on actual customer requirements. Your contributions will directly affect features, integrations, and roadmap priorities.
• The mission: We're committed to making enterprise-grade infrastructure automation accessible to all organizations. With an open-source foundation, our product is production-ready right out of the box. This is a long-term mission, not a short-term sprint.
• The impact: Collaborate with teams managing some of the world's most intricate infrastructure deployments, addressing challenges that have wide-ranging effects across entire organizations.
