Principal Software Architect – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee the execution of intricate, cross-functional projects that encompass backend services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.

• Propel the integration and advancement of AI within engineering workflows, which includes agentic tools, AI-enhanced development methodologies, and the incorporation of autonomous AI agents into platform functionalities.

• Recognize systemic technical issues related to reliability, performance, scalability, and observability, and take ownership of finding resolutions.

• Establish and maintain engineering standards governing code quality, testing methodologies, API design, data modeling, and deployment practices.

• Make informed architectural choices in uncertain or fast-evolving contexts, effectively communicating those decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Interact across the entire technology stack; this position requires both broad and deep knowledge, with the capability to transition seamlessly between system-level architecture and practical implementation.

• Collaborate with Product and business stakeholders to convert complex requirements into a clear technical strategy.

• Offer mentorship and technical direction to engineers across the global team through design evaluations, documentation, code assessments, and hands-on collaboration.

• Act as a senior escalation point for intricate or high-stakes engineering challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, showcasing expertise at the architectural level.

• Previous experience as a senior technical leader for a complex distributed system, with responsibilities extending beyond individual contributions.

• Proven history of identifying, prioritizing, and driving technical initiatives independently, rather than merely executing a pre-defined roadmap.

• Experience working effectively in globally distributed engineering teams.

• Demonstrated capability to enhance the technical quality of a team or platform in a measurable and sustainable manner.

• Background in SaaS platform engineering, with a comprehension of the operational requirements of continuously available systems.

• Candidates should exhibit strong expertise in the following areas: Java / Spring Boot, Python, Kafka / Kafka Connect, Kubernetes, AWS, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, SQL, Redis, Serverless / Lambda, S3 / Object Storage, CI/CD & DevOps.

• Familiarity with the following areas is also valued: Distributed systems design, platform observability, data pipeline architecture, and security and compliance practices within cloud-native environments.
