Principal Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Establish both medium- and long-term technical and architectural directives for the advancement of Escale's platforms and AI-First initiatives.

• Spearhead the architecture and development of scalable solutions centered on Artificial Intelligence, autonomous agents, intelligent automations, and GenAI-based applications.

• Propel engineering decisions that encompass architecture, scalability, resilience, observability, performance, and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate across functions to support various teams facing intricate engineering, architecture, and technology evolution challenges.

• Engage hands-on in building, coding, and refining critical solutions, ensuring the effective implementation of the proposed architectural patterns.

• Design robust architectures for event processing, automations, and essential business operations.

• Establish technical standards and development best practices for distributed applications, integrations, and event-driven systems.

• Oversee architectural decisions regarding backend systems, cloud infrastructure, observability, AI Engineering, and distributed platforms.

• Actively participate in the development of applications, integrations, and strategic core business components, maintaining close engagement with technical execution in code.

• Architect solutions on AWS, taking into account performance, security, reliability, governance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Convert the business's scalability and volume challenges into high-performance architectures powered by data and Artificial Intelligence.

• Shape technical decisions and direction alongside Engineering and Product leadership.

• Set practical guidelines for the evolution of applications utilizing LLMs, RAG, intelligent agents, and generative AI ecosystems.

• Actively engage in the validation, deployment, and enhancement of production solutions, ensuring alignment between architectural design and actual implementation.

• Elevate the organization's technical maturity through engineering best practices, testing, documentation, observability, and architectural quality.

• Serve as the principal technical and engineering resource in discussions surrounding architecture, AI Engineering, scalability, and platform development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in architecting and developing distributed, resilient, and highly scalable systems.

• In-depth knowledge of Software Architecture including DDD, Event-Driven Architecture, Clean Architecture, and Microservices.

• Practical experience with GenAI applications in production environments.

• Familiarity with integrating LLMs, autonomous agents, chatbots, and intelligent workflows.

• Advanced hands-on experience in developing backend applications using Node.js and TypeScript in complex settings.

• Demonstrated history of hands-on involvement (in code) in the development, design, and enhancement of critical production solutions.

• Experience with event-driven architectures, APIs, automations, and large-scale system integrations.

• Proficiency with AWS Cloud services including Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, and S3.

• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases (SQL and NoSQL).

• Proven track record of serving as a technical reference with cohesive influence across multiple teams and intricate environments.

• Capability to make significant architectural decisions with respect to scalability, resilience, and engineering feasibility.

• Experience leading complex technical discussions and establishing practical technology drivers.

• History of defining global architecture and the technical evolution of platforms and strategic initiatives.
