This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• In the role of Principal Safeguarding Manager, you will hold strategic responsibility for advocating best practices in safeguarding throughout the UK.
• You will ensure the safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults by offering leadership and guidance to managers and practitioners in complex situations.
• Your responsibilities will include reviewing and auditing the effectiveness of safeguarding measures across all functions of the charity.
• You will be required to prepare pertinent reports for the Director of Safeguarding and Quality Assurance, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and trustees as needed.
• Building strong relationships with managers and staff will be essential, as you provide leadership, support, and constructive challenges.
• You will conduct case reviews and handle whistleblowing and other investigations when assessing the effectiveness of safeguarding procedures.
• You will establish and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
• Designing and delivering safeguarding training events, both in-person and online, will also be part of your role.
• A Social Work Qualification is essential, along with experience in a statutory environment (such as children's social care, police, or probation).
• Proven experience in successfully managing safeguarding-related projects is required.
• You should have experience in effective communication with both internal departments and external agencies.
• The ability to provide an independent perspective that offers both challenge and support to the organization, its staff, and managers is crucial.
• You must be capable of working in a trauma-informed and culturally competent manner with colleagues closely involved with children and young people facing significant challenges.
• A thorough understanding of children's services legislation, guidance, and regulations in at least one UK jurisdiction, along with knowledge of Charity Commission safeguarding expectations, is necessary.
• Awareness of the issues surrounding the provision of children's social services and social care across different jurisdictions and regions is important.
• You should be able to influence and drive change irrespective of hierarchies and without direct managerial authority over staff.
