Principal Researcher, Prescription Drug Policy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversees the execution of projects and tasks along with business development, particularly for work performed for CMS and the CMS Innovation Center (CMMI).

• Manages the execution of large, complex projects or a collection of smaller projects; supervises the planning, design, and implementation of project procedures.

• Delivers senior-level subject matter expertise concerning prescription drug prescribing, pricing, and rebate programs to delivery and/or proposal teams.

• Guides proposal initiatives, including the assessment of proposals for effective practices and techniques, briefings, and activities related to client relations and development.

• Acts as an industry authority on alternative payment models, value-based reimbursement, or Medicare payment policies, particularly in relation to prescription drug policies and pricing.

• Successfully mentors and manages team members to enhance their growth; establishes developmental objectives and metrics for staff.

• Cultivates an inclusive environment that appreciates a diverse array of perspectives, experiences, backgrounds, and individual strengths.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ph.D. in Economics, Health Services Research, Pharmacoeconomics, or a related discipline with at least 7 years of pertinent work experience in managing and conducting research or associated tasks, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in leading or managing substantial federal contracts.

• Direct experience with prior or current CMMI alternative payment model contracts or CMS drug pricing initiatives.

• Demonstrated success in securing new business with CMS, AHRQ, or other HHS agencies.

• In-depth understanding of Medicare payment policy, Medicare Advantage, and/or Medicaid.

• Familiarity with Medicare claims, provider claims, survey data, and publicly accessible datasets, including Part D encounter data and other prescription drug event information.
