Principal Protection & Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Design protection and control systems for substations in accordance with relevant codes and client specifications.

• Develop designs for protective relaying and control systems used in transmission and distribution substations.

• Formulate relay protection schemes, criteria for relay settings, control philosophies, and necessary engineering calculations.

• Generate equipment and material specifications for procurement, design scopes, and cost estimations.

• Complete conceptual designs and layouts for protection and control in both new and existing substation facilities.

• Prepare documentation to support procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation/maintenance activities.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.

• Lead and engage in client meetings and site visits.

• Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, encompassing technical reviews and approvals of engineering design packages.

• Provide mentorship and oversight for junior engineers and designers.

• Review calculations, drawings, and specifications for quality assurance, consistency, and compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Over 15 years of experience in substation protection and control design engineering.

• Possession of a Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Exceptional document management and organizational abilities.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality.

• Capability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment and engage professionally with clients and stakeholders.
