Principal Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• In the role of Principal Field Project Manager, you will oversee all project management activities for high-complexity projects or manage a portfolio of medium to high-complexity projects.

• You will foster a collaborative working environment with large teams, collaborating with cross-department roles including Project Controls, Quality, Engineering, and other Project Managers.

• Reporting to the Manager Field Service Operations, this position allows for remote work with required travel to designated project sites.

• You will lead diverse projects involving welding, machining, and the replacement of large components during outages at nuclear power plants.

• Ensure comprehensive development of cost estimates and proposals for field service projects within the nuclear power industry.

• Actively support customer negotiations while advocating for Westinghouse's value-added opportunities on customer premises.

• Manage the project planning processes, which include drafting project management plans, establishing procedures, creating schedules, conducting challenge meetings, and preparing cost baselines/projections and financial reporting, invoicing, and risk and partner registers.

• Be a key driver during project execution to ensure teams achieve safe, event-free, first-time quality project deliveries, focusing on schedule adherence, financial tracking and projections, invoicing, documenting project performance and lessons learned, and maintaining active partner management through internal and external communications.

• Formulate and execute recovery plans to realign projects that are not on track.

• Ensure project closure by properly archiving work within financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools.

• Conduct final quality assessments and prepare project reports.

• Share best practices, identify opportunities for improvement, communicate lessons learned, and implement risk avoidance strategies for future projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Project Management, Engineering, Science, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent non-degreed technical experience in an industrial setting (field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas, construction).

• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, or 3 years of project management/supervisory experience combined with 2+ years of technical field experience (e.g., field service, nuclear, power plant, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), oil/gas, construction industry) may be considered as equivalent.

• Preferred experience of 6-10 years in applicable Project Management roles, particularly in Construction Management, large component replacements, and working with a union-represented craft workforce.

• Proven experience leading field-based projects, especially at nuclear plants during outages, while adhering to Safety and Non-Safety Related Quality Programs, ASME codes, and various types of NDE.

• Demonstrated leadership and practical field experience with both non-union and union-represented workforces in areas such as pipe fitting, boilermaking, machining, manual and automated welding, and nuclear system piping repairs.
