This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +16 more states.
• Develop and enhance AI-driven tools and capabilities that enable Zillow’s product teams to learn more quickly, make better decisions, and engage in more impactful work.
• Swiftly create prototypes that streamline critical phases of the product development process, allowing teams to gain valuable insights sooner.
• Work collaboratively with data science and engineering teams to implement new capabilities at scale, contributing to the architectural frameworks, data pipelines, and integration standards that ensure sustainable work.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, researchers, and senior leadership to transform ambitious transformation objectives into functional, real-world systems.
• Shape the technical framework for AI-driven systems designed to scale across teams, organizations, and various use cases.
• Communicate your work to stakeholders and senior leadership with clarity and enthusiasm; simplify complex systems and make transformative outcomes feel tangible.
• Independently lead projects, providing structure to unclear problems while delivering high-quality results with urgency and attention to detail.
• Engage in contributing, learning, growing, and helping to define the future of this team.
• 7–10 years of experience in software engineering, technical product development, or a related field with substantial expertise.
• Extensive experience in designing and constructing AI-powered systems, including agentic architectures, LLM orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and tool integration patterns.
• Strong instincts for prototyping, with the capability to create something tangible enough to elicit constructive feedback quickly.
• Demonstrated experience in translating organizational and operational challenges into scalable technical solutions.
• Proven ability to collaborate across diverse, cross-functional teams with demonstrated influence beyond formal authority.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and collaborative development tools.
• Experience working with data science teams to establish instrumentation strategies, design metric frameworks, and develop pipelines that convert operational signals into valuable insights.
• Ability to think about organizational health on a systems level, rather than just focusing on specific products or features; you consider feedback loops and compounding returns, not merely shipping cycles.
• A portfolio or history of ambitious, high-quality technical work, ideally showcasing systems that transformed team operations.
• An infectious sense of optimism, a creative hacker’s mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for the intersection of technology, product, and human behavior.
