Principal Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore.

📋 Description

• Design, scale, and enhance our distributed scanning infrastructure, ensuring optimal throughput, minimal latency, and dependable operation on a global scale.

• Elevate DevOps performance and delivery excellence by continuously improving: deployment frequency, change lead time, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery.

• Address intricate scaling challenges across computing, data pipelines, networking, and orchestration, including: transitioning from single-region to multi-region/global architecture, boosting data processing throughput across workflow pipelines, and enhancing overall system availability, observability, and fault tolerance.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure that platform capabilities align with the evolving needs of the business and its customers.

• Promote engineering best practices, including infrastructure-as-code, automation by default, high-quality operational documentation, and secure-by-design principles.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, helping to establish a mindset of operational maturity, reliability, and engineering excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems and high-throughput networked architectures.

• Proficiency in cybersecurity platforms or security data at scale, preferably with Threat Intelligence and/or Offensive Security-type solutions.

• Demonstrated experience in building engineering organizations within early-stage, B2B startups serving enterprise clients.

• A proven record of scaling high-throughput and distributed systems in production environments.

• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure setup, operations, and maintenance.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver software using Agile methodologies.

• Strong knowledge of OSI Layer 3+ networking concepts and performance optimization.

• Experience in owning, operating, and upgrading systems that are live in production.

• Direct experience in scaling a platform from a single region to multi-region or global deployments.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity platforms, high-volume data processing, or other distributed computing environments.

• Technical expertise across:

• - Cloud service providers: AWS, Azure, GitHub

• - Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Terraform

• - Application platform: Kubernetes (AWS EKS), Helm, Docker, Docker Compose

• - Observability tools: Elastic-Fluent-Kibana (EFK) stack, Prometheus, Jaeger/OpenTelemetry, Grafana

• - Data persistence technologies: PostgreSQL (RDS), MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka

• - Delivery pipelines: GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild

• - Workflow orchestration tools: Airflow, Kubernetes

• - Software runtimes: Python, Node.js, Go

• Understanding of regulatory, privacy, and data sovereignty requirements in Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
