Principal Mobile Engineer – AI-Augmented Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture, design, delivery, and ongoing development of the TaxAct mobile application for both iOS and Android platforms.

• Spearhead mobile functionalities such as authentication, biometrics, secure storage, notifications, deep linking, device integrations, performance enhancements, and app store management.

• Establish the right balance between native mobile experiences and web-based solutions.

• Enhance platform quality, reliability, security, and ease of maintenance.

• Assess emerging technologies and update the mobile platform accordingly.

• Serve as the technical leader for mobile projects across engineering, product, design, security, and platform teams.

• Spot opportunities, outline solutions, and drive independent execution.

• Create prototypes, assess technologies, and resolve complex technical challenges.

• Counsel stakeholders on mobile architecture, platform capabilities, user experience, release strategies, and operational excellence.

• Enhance mobile engineering methodologies, tools, standards, and documentation.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows for design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and research purposes.

• Assess AI-powered engineering tools and aid in establishing adoption standards.

• Review and confirm the quality of AI-generated work for production-level outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with considerable expertise in building, launching, and maintaining production mobile applications.

• Proven track record of managing complex mobile applications or platform capabilities on both iOS and Android.

• Experience in leading initiatives from concept to production with minimal supervision.

• Comprehensive support for the full mobile lifecycle, including releases, observability, crash analysis, performance tuning, and platform upgrades.

• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools to enhance engineering productivity.

• Experience in modernizing applications while ensuring production stability.

• Significant hands-on experience with Flutter and Dart.

• Strong knowledge of iOS and Android platform capabilities, covering authentication, biometrics, secure storage, notifications, deep linking, permissions, and device APIs.

• Experience in integrating mobile applications with web applications, WebViews, APIs, backend services, identity providers, and third-party platforms.

• Strong practical coding skills and expertise in mobile architecture.

• Experience in reviewing and validating AI-generated code and technical solutions.
