Principal – Large-Scale Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Actively seek and connect with new opportunities through outreach and focused networking with utility-scale developers, independent power producers (IPPs), hyperscalers, and large-load clients; navigate intricate organizations to pinpoint key decision-makers and promote the adoption of Planted’s technological solutions.

• Establish objectives, cultivate relationships, and drive revenue at the portfolio level, rather than on a project-by-project basis.

• Integrate Planted early in the process: incorporate Planted into baseline technical and financial assumptions prior to market entry for projects.

• Relay genuine constraints from developers and capital partners back into product and pricing strategies.

• Manage complex deal closures by aligning developers with IPP, financing, and tax equity requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in infrastructure project development, energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A), or power project origination.

• Proven ability to prospect and manage a complicated enterprise sales cycle with large organizations; skill in articulating a compelling value proposition that transforms new prospects into enduring partners.

• Established history of closing infrastructure transactions exceeding $10M with complex development cycles.

• Knowledge of project finance structures including tax equity, construction debt, offtake agreements, or portfolio M&A.

• Technical proficiency in solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and power system architecture, enabling credible engagement with developers and design engineers.

• Strong pre-existing network among utility-scale developers, IPPs, or capital providers within the energy sector.

• Comfortable working without a fully defined playbook in a rapidly evolving market.
