Principal Full-Stack Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete delivery of product and platform projects, from initial problem identification to deployment and continuous support.

• Set the technical vision that harmonizes immediate delivery needs with long-term scalability goals.

• Create and implement resilient systems across both frontend and backend layers.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams while ensuring strong individual accountability.

• Make informed decisions balancing speed, maintainability, and performance.

• Contribute high-quality code and establish standards through meticulous reviews.

• Tackle ambiguous challenges and transform incomplete requirements into tangible solutions.

• Assume responsibility for production systems, including monitoring, incident management, and post-incident reviews.

• Document architectural choices and technical strategies to aid future team growth.

• Assess tools and infrastructure decisions, including considerations for building versus buying.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience (10+ years) in software development with a comprehensive understanding of both frontend and backend systems.

• Proven capability to lead and execute complex projects independently in high-growth or startup settings.

• Profound knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Strong background with modern frontend frameworks such as React or similar.

• Solid experience in backend development, particularly with Node.js and Go.

• Extensive database expertise across relational and non-relational systems, including performance tuning.

• Experience in building APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and designing service-oriented architectures.

• Familiarity with major cloud services and distributed system design patterns.

• Practical experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and production operations.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.

• Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging systems.

• Strong system design capabilities with an understanding of trade-offs in product evolution.

• Ability to work effectively with minimal guidance and adapt to changing priorities.

• Excellent communication skills, especially in bridging technical and business perspectives.

• Experience leading migrations, refactors, or platform evolution is a significant advantage.
