This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the primary authority on fraud defenses, collaborating with Product and Engineering to develop and enhance scalable risk tools and strategies.
• Establish and manage a multi-layered fraud defense framework that includes internal systems, third-party vendors, data signals, rules, and operational workflows.
• Serve as a key collaborator with Product teams, aiding in PRD development, aligning on concepts, and facilitating the implementation of fraud prevention tools and systems.
• Examine fraud trends and convert insights into actionable enhancements.
• Connect Fraud Operations with Product, ensuring insights are integrated into the design process.
• Discover and assess new data signals from external vendors.
• Oversee and refine fraud rules, thresholds, scoring logic, and vendor configurations.
• Design and enhance workflows across systems and tools.
• Foster collaboration between fraud systems and human operations.
• Utilize ML and AI technologies to enhance fraud detection capabilities.
• Collaborate with Data teams to establish and construct data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
• Convert regulatory and compliance mandates into actionable workflows.
• Produce fraud intelligence reporting for senior leadership.
• Assist in responding to high-severity fraud incidents.
• Define and implement case quality and feedback mechanisms.
• Cultivate relationships with third-party fraud vendors.
• 8-12+ years of experience in fraud, risk management, fraud intelligence, risk analytics, trust & safety, marketplace abuse, financial crime, or related domains.
• Extensive experience in assessing and implementing fraud solutions, encompassing rules, signals, vendors, workflows, and detection methodologies.
• Previous experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams, with a robust understanding of product development and technology concepts such as APIs, SDKs, JavaScript integrations, and vendor implementation prerequisites.
• Profound expertise across a variety of third-party fraud vendors and solutions, including device intelligence, behavioral signals, identity verification, payments, account security, or marketplace risk tools.
• Strongly data-driven with the capability to leverage insights from diverse systems to inform decisions.
• Solid understanding of contemporary fraud technologies, including ML/AI-driven detection systems.
• Experience in measuring and optimizing fraud performance across operations, quality, vendor effectiveness, and customer impact.
• Comfortable analyzing various fraud typologies, including payment fraud, account takeover, scams, fundraiser/account fraud, mule activity, and platform abuse.
• A self-starter who excels in dynamic environments and adeptly navigates uncertainty.
• Highly skilled in cross-functional collaboration and capable of articulating technical concepts clearly.
• Well-connected within the fraud ecosystem, remaining informed on emerging trends, tools, and best practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, dashboarding, or advanced analytics is preferred.
