Principal Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical strategy and architecture for public sector implementations, ensuring technical excellence while aligning with policy and operational requirements.

• Serve as the primary technical representative in senior-level client meetings, connecting technical specifics with business or policy objectives.

• Oversee multiple comprehensive multi-year initiatives, guiding projects from rapid prototyping through development, operations, and maintenance.

• Design and construct backend systems, full-stack web applications, and mobile solutions with an emphasis on security, privacy, and accessibility.

• Convert government requirements into solid, standards-compliant solutions that work seamlessly with both modern and legacy systems.

• Provide mentorship and direction to deployed engineers and delivery teams, establishing benchmarks for high-quality engineering and customer collaboration.

• Recognize and implement efficiencies across projects, ensuring that knowledge and tools are shared among teams.

• Partner with platform teams to integrate customer insights into SpruceID’s roadmap and contribute to global identity standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in designing, building, and delivering production-quality software in statically typed languages (Rust, Go, Java, C#).

• Demonstrated ability to lead extensive engineering initiatives that involve multiple teams and organizations.

• Profound knowledge across the software development stack, including infrastructure, DevOps, architecture, frontend, and mobile.

• Proven experience working with public sector or highly regulated industries, including direct engagement with customers at both executive and technical levels.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and consulting abilities, with a talent for influencing both strategy and execution.

• Residing in the US and open to travel as necessary to support state government partners.
