Principal Forward Deployed Engineer – Applied AI Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical design and implementation of intricate banking AI projects, which include off-platform constructions and custom integrations into client systems.

• Collaborate closely with client engineering, security, and architecture teams — communicate effectively, acknowledge their limitations, and design solutions that fit their context.

• Design comprehensive agentic systems: data ingestion, model orchestration, evaluations, observability, security, and the production interface surrounding all of it.

• Determine the appropriate components to develop on Titan's platform, what should be custom-built, and what should be deferred to our roadmap.

• Guide mid-level FDEs and shape the platform's direction by transforming insights gained into reusable assets and patterns.

• Serve as a representative of Titan's engineering expertise to banking CTOs, CISOs, and their architectural teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A seasoned engineer with significant production experience. You have deployed systems that have made a difference to real users, either at scale or under substantial constraints.

• A creator at heart. Titles are less important than your trajectory. Many of the most talented individuals we know have taken unconventional routes to reach this point — this is a strength, not a drawback.

• A strong client-facing demeanor. You can effectively engage with a bank's CTO, challenge a CISO's threat model with solid reasoning, and bridge the communication gap between engineers and executives instantly.

• A systems-oriented thinker. You can discern how a component fits — or doesn't — before commencing your work.

• Hypothesis-driven, opinionated yet humble. You commit to a course of action, execute to validate it, and pivot when the data suggests a change.

• Experience in banking or regulated sectors is highly desirable — including financial services, insurance, healthcare, defense, energy, or similar fields.

• Senior-level full-stack expertise with a pronounced backend proficiency — encompassing distributed systems, API design, secure integration methodologies, and infrastructure fluency.

• Extensive experience in developing production-grade agents utilizing LangChain, LangGraph, DeepAgents, and model-provider SDKs (Claude SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK).

• Proficient in agent search methodologies — agent file search, vector RAG, vectorless RAG — and understanding the trade-offs associated with each approach.

• Robust knowledge of AI security frameworks: observability, data controls, model gateways, prompt and tool-call sandboxing.

• Practical experience in designing and conducting evaluations; familiarity with training and fine-tuning processes.

• Experience in process orchestration and automation on a large scale.

• Comfortable making architectural decisions across the entire stack of a production AI system.
